Frequently Asked Questions

We answer some of the most frequently asked questions from our customers.
1Why do I have to have my home inspected before receiving a proposal?
When a customer requests a professional pest control service, often the first question is how much the service will cost. However, no two houses or problems are the same, nor is the determination to solve the problem in all companies. We customize your treatment program based on the specific information from the free inspection process. Our technicians will carry out a complete inspection of your home. Later, we will send you a detailed report with recommendations and a proposal for eliminating the initial problem and preventing future infestations.
2What are some signs that might tell me I have a pest infestation?
The insects themselves can be obvious signs of an infestation, but sometimes their evidence is more subtle. When signs of infestation are not obvious, accurate inspection and identification require an experienced pest management professional. Once the inspection is complete, the pests and their hiding places identified and the severity of the infestation determined, our technical team will design a customized control plan around your specific needs.
3Why do I have these pests in my house?
Pests could have been there before your home existed, but they could also have been introduced through transporting goods or growing plants. They like their home because it provides them with the same essentials we all need, like food, water and a place to live. This is also why our inspection is fundamental – identifying the critical points and necessary steps that the owner must take into account in order to make his home ‘pest-free’.
4Can I get rid of pests myself?
There are many methods you can use to discourage and eliminate pests. The foundation of any pest control starts with improving sanitation and eliminating conditions conducive to pest infestation. This can help solve your problem, but many times professional follow-up will be needed to get rid of the problem.
5Are chemicals the only solution to my pest problem? Do they pose health risks?
Chemicals are very rarely the only solution and can pose a health risk if not used correctly. That is why it is essential to only deal with licensed and qualified professionals. The pesticide can be part of the solution, but the goal is to achieve control with minimal risk or danger to the customer and the environment.
6Will my house smell after the treatment?
In most cases, there is little or no smell associated with the services we provide.
7Does Extermínio offer Green or Non-Chemical treatments?
We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques to ensure we use the minimum material necessary to successfully eliminate the target pest. This starts with a thorough inspection. Based on inspection results, strategies include non-chemical treatments as a priority
8How soon can you start taking care of my house?
Most of the time, we can have a technician come to your home or business within a day.
9How long does a service visit take?
The length of service will vary depending on the pest and level of infestation, but typically the service takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
10Will my family have to leave the house during treatment?
Most of the time not, but depending on the pest and the degree of the infestation, the safety recommendations (always put first) may require the removal of family members and animals. However, the company has methods that can avoid these inconveniences in cases of absolute necessity.
11Why is certification important?
The certification of a company consists of recognition by an independent certifying entity that its system or activity is in accordance with the reference standards. Namely, in our case, referring to pest control procedures and management and quality management. Concerning the advantages of the certification processes, they are reflected in some of these aspects: Increase in the degree of customer satisfaction; Improved communication and relationship with its customers; Avoid mistakes; Optimize costs; Ensure the quality of products and services provided; Assist in decision-making; Continuous development; Top human resources; Ongoing training of its human resources.
12Why is it so important to work with certified companies?
The scope of the term quality is vast, so we can only think about its meaning since quality for a customer means that the product/service fulfils its functions as required. In the case of certified companies, these are distinguished by incorporating some benefits such as constant performance improvement, organization of procedures, the pursuit of customer satisfaction, improved communication and quality assurance of products and services. If any of these things are important to you, then you should look for a certified company.
13After the pest is eliminated, do you have methods to prevent its return?
The Integrated Urban Pest Control System (SICPU) is an innovative and sustainable approach for the area that is based on pest prevention and the use of biocides only when there are no other solutions.
14If I want to monitor the spread of pests remotely, do you have digital methods?
We use a digital system in which the records and data management can be consulted, resulting from the information collected in one or more rodent detection devices, which allows monitoring of the control points anywhere, even without the physical presence of our operational area employees. The detection devices can be positioned in any area that we want to control, either by placing them inside a bait station or in a trap with no biocide, this solution being valid for indoor or outdoor areas. The system operates by monitoring activity, detecting the presence of warm-blooded animals, so it will avoid false alarms due to the possible passage of reptiles and insects.
15Is it safe for my family and pets?
Extermínio presents solutions with methods that may or may not use chemical substances, depending on the area and pest in question. The methods used are duly authorized by the General Directorate of Health and were created to protect human beings, animals, materials or articles against harmful organisms, such as parasites or bacteria, through the action of active substances contained in the products.
