Preventing a rat infestation requires implementing practices and measures to make your home or environment less attractive and accessible to these rodents.

Here are some tips to help prevent the presence of rats:

  1. Maintain cleanliness:
  • Clean up spilt food and waste regularly;
  • Store food in sealed containers;
  • Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight.
  1. Eliminate water sources:
  • Fix water leaks;
  • Make sure there is no stagnant water in plant dishes, pet bowls, etc.
  1. Seal off entry points:
  • Inspect your home for holes or cracks and seal them;
  • Make sure doors and windows are properly sealed.
  1. Proper storage:
  • Store food in rodent-proof containers;
  • Keep rubbish in sealed containers.
  1. Keep the garden tidy:
  • Keep the lawn mowed and bushes trimmed;

  1. Clean storage areas regularly:
  • Eliminate clutter in storage areas, basements and attics, where mice can build nests.
